About

Jeong Min Ahn is an emerging Korean hyperrealist painter, based in Vancouver BC. He graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2020, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has trained professionally with hyperrealist artists in Korea, such as Jeong-Hae Kwang. His recent and upcoming exhibitions include Trash, with the Queen’s Park Gallery, AIRE 2022 at the Canadian Federation Art Gallery, and ArtRich 2021, among others. He was the recipient of the 2019 Richard Alm Scholar Award from the Federation of Canadian Artists. He works primarily in oils, usually painting still lives, and sometimes large-scale portrait works. Much of his work pursues the idea of perfectionism and explores the ability of excessive detail in lending power to, and redefining the value of, the subjects he chooses to paint. He plans to pursue a Masters Degree in Fine Arts in the years to come.
